Ocotillo & Ash Homebuilders
Overview
Ocotillo & Ash builds custom desert homes in Paradise Valley, Arcadia, North Scottsdale and Cave Creek. FrontPage Labs designed the brand and website around one idea: in Phoenix, the sun sets the rules. The site had to show a builder that sizes overhangs to the latitude, pours rammed-earth walls and plans its crews around the monsoon.
We built a poster system of full-width color blocks in burnt orange, saguaro green, charcoal and a pale cool grey on a clean white page, so the color changes as you move through the page. Headlines are heavy Bricolage Grotesque set very large, with a single Fraunces italic line held back for the question every house starts from. A banded rammed-earth stripe is the one signature motif, used in the logo, the sun-angle drawing and the footer.
The featured house is told as a film strip of six captioned frames with a 15-month build timeline. The process section answers the question every client asks, which is what the next fourteen months will feel like, with a month-by-month chart and six steps set in giant numerals.

Ocotillo & Ash Homebuilders is a Phoenix design-build firm founded in 2006. It takes on five or six custom homes a year and builds with rammed earth, lime plaster and weathering steel.
FrontPage Labs delivered the brand identity, the color and type system and the full website, covering the featured house, finished homes, homesites, the build process, desert building methods, aftercare and a consultation form.
